Looks Like Art, Heats Like the Sun: Turn Your Heater into the Most Valuable Surface in the Room

Sunlike Tec13 October 2026

For years, heaters were objects to be hidden away. Curtains were drawn in front of radiators, and the look of an air conditioner was a headache in architectural drawings.

Sunlike Tec turns that approach on its head. SL Series infrared panels are only 25 mm thick, with a flat, smooth surface. From a city apartment in Europe to a boutique hotel on the Mediterranean coast, that surface can become the most valuable area of your wall.

In this article, we walk through four different uses in which a heater can simultaneously be a work of art, an advertising space, an information sign, and a decorative element — along with what to watch for to apply them safely.

A Work of Art: A Warm Canvas on Your Wall

The surface of SL Series panels can be turned into any design you imagine through digital printing. A family photo, an abstract composition, or public-domain works by masters such as Van Gogh, Hokusai, Monet, or Klimt all come back to life on this surface.

ModelSize (mm)Heating area*
SL 450595×595×258 m²
SL 6401195×595×2512 m²
SL 9001195×595×2517 m²

Heating area depends on insulation, usage pattern, and building structure.

From 60×60 to 60×120, every panel is a canvas. A single large panel can become the focal point of a living room, while several panels from the same series can be arranged like a gallery wall. Heating needs and design concept should be considered together when planning the space.

While your guests admire the painting, the real surprise comes the moment they realize that painting is what's heating the room.

It is also possible to apply your own painting to the surface in oil paint. However, the panel surface reaches an average of 90°C, and up to 120°C on the SL 900. For this reason, heat-resistant paint and varnish must be used, and you should always consult our specialists before application.

Advertising Space and Information Signage: Let Your Walls Speak

The same surface can speak for your brand too.

  • Restaurants: Your logo and slogan meet your guests at eye level, all day long.
  • Supermarkets: The SL 320Sc cassette, which fits directly into a standard 600×600 suspended-ceiling grid, becomes a surface that both heats and carries your brand.
  • Cafés: Comfort that heats directly, like the sun, keeps your guests in the space — while you host them, your brand does the talking.

Campaigns end, but your brand stays in the space. A single investment with a 30-year lifespan means a long-running brand presence. What's more, while the panel takes on this role, it works silently and odourlessly, without disturbing the atmosphere of the space.

In schools it can carry directions, a reminder, or a warning; in hotels it can be a message that reaches every guest quietly. Just remember: these information signs do not replace the emergency exit and safety signage required by regulations in your country; they are used to complement them.

Part of the Decor: Mirror, Light, and Towel Rail

With the mirror-surface option, the panel sits in the background of the decor. No one sees the heater, but everyone feels the warmth.

With LEDs placed around or beneath the panel, it can also become a light source. The only rule here is that the LEDs must not cover the front surface of the panel.

In the bathroom, it can be used as a towel rail with a factory-approved hanging bracket. While your towels stay warm and dry, because the panel heats walls and surfaces directly, it also helps reduce condensation and limit the formation of moisture and mould. In this use, the hanger must not cover the panel surface; the panel must be mounted on a wall away from wet points such as a bathtub or sink.

Aesthetics and Safety Together

Design freedom only makes sense alongside the core rules in the user manual:

  • The front surface of the panel must not be covered by any accessory, fabric, or object; otherwise overheating and shutdown will occur.
  • The panel must not be mounted where it could fall into water.
  • The SL Series is for indoor use only.

The SL Series is manufactured in Turkey under UK licence and carries both UKCA (United Kingdom) and CE (European Economic Area) conformity marks. When these rules are followed, Sunlike Tec accompanies your space for years as a design element that runs silently and odourlessly and requires no maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can a picture or logo be printed on the heating panel?

Yes. The flat, smooth surface of Sunlike Tec SL Series panels is suitable for digital printing; a design, logo, or work of art can be printed on it. A mirror-surface option is also available.

Q: What sizes are decorative infrared panels made in?

Sunlike Tec SL Series decorative panels come in 595×595×25 mm and 1195×595×25 mm sizes; in other words, every panel from 60×60 to 60×120 can be used as a canvas. For example, the SL 450 is designed to heat about 8 m², and the SL 900 about 17 m²; heating area depends on insulation, usage pattern, and building structure.

Q: Can oil paint be applied to the panel?

It can, but because the Sunlike Tec SL panel surface reaches 90–120°C, heat-resistant paint and varnish are required. We recommend consulting our specialists before application.

Q: Can an infrared panel be used as a towel rail?

The Sunlike Tec SL panel can be used as a towel rail with a factory-approved hanging bracket. The hanger must not cover the panel surface; the panel must be mounted on a wall away from wet points such as a bathtub or sink.

Q: Can LED lighting be added around the heating panel?

Yes. LEDs can be placed around or beneath the Sunlike Tec SL panel to turn it into a light source. The only rule is that the LEDs and other accessories must not cover the front surface of the panel; covering the front causes overheating and shutdown.

Q: Does a panel used as an information sign replace an emergency exit sign?

No. Printed Sunlike Tec panels used for directions or reminders in a school or hotel do not replace the emergency exit and safety signage required by regulations. These panels should only be used as a supplementary information surface.

Q: Can Sunlike Tec decorative panels be used in different countries?

The Sunlike Tec SL Series carries both UKCA (United Kingdom) and CE (European Economic Area) conformity marks and comes with a 3-year warranty and a 30-year lifespan. We recommend speaking with our specialists to confirm compliance with your country's electrical infrastructure and local regulations.
